The Morning After

Just wanted to send a quick update. I visited my dad in the hospital this morning before heading into work. He is looking really good today and said that he slept well last night. The surgeon had already come in to meet with him this morning. As with any surgery, the concern is blood clotting - so the nurses started my dad on a blood thinner this morning. He will be meeting with a physical therapist at some point today to begin the process of getting him back on his feet. While I was there, the nurse came in and said that he can start having liquids and should be able to have solid food by the end of the day. He drank some water, a glass of apple juice and ate some lovely yellow jello cubes! My mom, Cathy and Kevin are on their way to see him at the hospital in the next hour. Then, Garrett, Lindsey and I will be heading back there tonight. So far, it's a really great day!
